Suddenly

Suddenly

There are some suddenlies of God. We have used this scripture before, some time ago. We could never tell about it enough or even get all the spiritual meaning out of it. “And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all in one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it fill all the house where they were siting and there appeared to them cloven tongues as of fire and sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues” [Acts 2:1-4]. Jesus had told five hundred people to go to Jerusalem and wait till they were endued with power. We don’t know all the reasons why, but by the time the promise came, there were only 120 dedicated people in the upper room. I imagine it was something like today, slothful, lukewarm, sleep in’s and dozens of reasons people just can’t be where God told them to be. So, the other 380 people that just couldn’t wait, couldn’t be there, for whatever the reason, missed the awesome blessing that God had for them.

Many times, there are other kinds of great winds that come suddenly in our lives as it did when Jesus and the disciples were in the boat. There are those storms of life when the cares of this world seem overwhelming and we don’t know what to do. For Christians, Jesus is there to bring us through the storm. It is written “Do not be afraid of sudden terror, nor of trouble from the wicked when it comes” [Prov. 3:25].

When Paul got out of the boat in Malta and joined the people, a snake came out of the fire and bit him, it was such a poisonous viper, the people expected that He would suddenly fall to the ground, dead. After they watched for a while, they decided he was a god. [ Acts 28:6] Of course Paul knew that God comes in the suddenlies of His life and kept him from death.

There may be many hard things happen in the years to come. The Bible teaches us, that as the darkness gets darker, the Light of the true Church will get brighter. “Watch therefore how you have received and heard; hold fast and repent. Therefore, if you will not watch, I will come upon you as a thief, and you will not know what hour I will come upon you [Revelation 3:3].

Jesus has promised He will return to receive His Bride unto Him. “Watch therefore, for you do not know when the master of the house is coming---in the evening, at midnight, at the crowing of the rooster, or in the morning lest, coming suddenly, He find you sleeping. [Mark 13:35-36]. There is a day coming and it may be soon, that we will hear the sound of a trumpet, we [His Bride] will rise to meet Him in the air. We will be closed in with Him for 7 years. The tribulation will be going on down here. It will not be a good place to be. Then He will come back, and every eye will see Him as He takes charge of this world. Are you ready, are you a part of the Bride? The one you serve here on earth is the one you will serve for all eternity. “It is appointed to man once to die and then the judgement” [Heb. 9:27]. There is no in-between, no second chance after death. Jesus told the thief on the cross “Today you will be with me in paradise” Are you ready? When Jesus comes, He will come “Suddenly.”
